Karina works much closer to the subject. She is drawn to details that are easy to pass by: the edge of a leaf, the surface of a flower, the structure of a small object and the particular way light sits on something familiar.

By staying with those details, she makes them feel more present than they might in ordinary life.

That close attention gives her work a vivid realism, but the realism is not only about accuracy. It comes from noticing what most people do not stop long enough to see.
